Conjugal and family brief therapy Practitioner
While traditional psychotherapies focus on the origins of psychological difficulties, systemic and strategic approaches are concerned with knowing, how the problems keep manifesting throughout the present, and use the current context of clients’ lives to solve them. Systemic analysis is situated within the stream of short-term therapies, it originated from the meeting of many researches from various horizons such as anthropology, cybernetics, psychology, systems and information theory, linguistics …
Individuals’ problems are no longer considered as resulting from the past of the person or due to a deficiency of the individual, but as the result of an unsatisfactory regulation of the system in which the person evolves. Thus, the purpose of the systemic training, will be to interfere on the system, so it can either bring the person back to a previous equilibrium point, or it can allow the person, to evolve towards a new point of equilibrium.
Systemic interventions are particularly useful in family and couple therapy, but also in individual therapy because every individual is in itself, a system and belongs to many other systems. The main objective of the intervention is to determine the faulty system which maintains the problem and to offer, in a gentle way, a new vision of the same system, in order to lead the person to evolve towards a new system, more pleasant for him.
